Mike and Hollie Henderson-September 2010

Mike and Hollie Henderson, September 24, 2010

Mike and I met on an online dating website.  Our first date was at a hibachi grill called Wasabi’s and I remember it was pouring rain that evening.  He was such a gentleman and made me laugh with wonderful conversation the entire evening.  We both knew after the second date that we were each others soul mates and started talking about marriage about 2 months after we met.  The formal proposal was after dinner at Wasabi’s (the place of our first date).  Even though we had talked about marriage, I had no idea when he was going to formally propose.  Everyone in my family knew it was going to happen that night, except for me.  They were all wonderful about keeping the “big” secret.  The most special part about our relationship is how we have connected with each other ever since our first date.  We are happy doing the simplest things in life together, such as watching movies on Netflix with microwave popcorn, to traveling a few hours away for a long weekend getaway.  Our friends and families have blended so well too.  My mom and dad love and treat him like another son and my nephew thinks Uncle Mike is the greatest thing since sliced bread.  His friend Shannon and I are bargain shopping buddies and she has introduced me to the wonderful world of Coach Purses.  My friends are his friends and his friends are mine.  We were married September 24, 2010 at Buhl Mansion in Sharon, Pennsylvania.  We chose a fall theme with Apple Green, Brown and Ivory with maple leaf accents.  We had 4 bridesmaids and 4 groomsmen but what really made our wedding unique was that Mike’s best person was actually a “best lady”- Shannon.  Our first dance was Brad Paisley-Then.  Mike actually learned the lyrics and how to play this song on his guitar and surprised me one night at his house after dinner.  We had a Family Style dinner, where the servers actually bring a bowl or platter of each of the menu items to each table and the food is passed around at the table like you would at home.  Mike’s favorite wedding memory was when he first saw me walking down the aisle towards him.  Where as my favorite memory was looking into Mike’s eyes during our first dance and knowing that I finally married the man of my dreams.
